Dino Attack!!

One of the 2012 new releases by Lego is the new “Dino” series. Whilst I may be a little confused to understand why this range is out now as I’m not aware of any Dinosaur related films (not that I go to the cinema much now) but there are a few “dino” TV programmes like Primeval, or Terra Nova so hey, let’s go with that and move on.

Let’s start with the Dinosaurs. I bought one of the smaller sets with the Coelophysis Dinosaur - and I love the eyes and teeth (regular readers of the blog will be aware of my regular set/scene “Mike’s Bar” – so I have Rory peering in through the big window right now… this may be a pic for later in the year perhaps!) and from a tactile perspective the rubber feel seems more organic than the traditional ABS (yes folks, even I know that my little community aren’t real – but “shh” don’t tell them that!). I’m quite happy that the dinosaur isn’t fully poseable - it would introduce some complexities that frankly I don’t think they need.

The thing that interested me with the Lego range is that “hero” doesn’t have a name – or at least, I can’t find one. I like this idea because if I should get another set (hmm…!) I can call the other characters other names, unlike the “Jack” character in Pharoah’s quest (I have a few of him now..) Our hero has a “double head” giving us the “aargh!” expression (above) or the more cool look (below)

The car is really cool – it looks like it could cope with any terrain and if money was no object I’d love a full size one to sit on my drive! It looks like it could be a mid-engine vehicle, although this could be the firing area for the two rockets – especially given the dial on the top. Perhaps I’d have to be careful around the local village with those… unless I couldn’t find a parking space!

The last “cool” thing in the Dino Hunter’s arsenal is his Tranq-gun. He comes with two green syringes, which clip onto the gun. It’s a small adjustment to the gun, but I think is a really neat attachment.

Now, if you will excuse me, my Dino warning screen is saying that we might be compromised – Incoming Dinosaur!
